RE-CONSTRUCT / AW 2009

RE-CONSTRUCT is my graduation collection at Art and Design University of Cluj-Napoca. The collection was first shown in Polus Center Cluj-Napoca in 2008.

Description

The wearers of the garments are living in contemporary urban area, under the visual influence of different modern architectures.

The cuts, silhouettes and textures of the garments are inspired by urban architecture, they become geometrical structures by using the characteristical techniques of architecture: folding, repetition, geometrical shapes, rythm, volume, transparency.

“Spaces are stronger than people”, every space is unique, with endless affinities or analogies to other spaces.

Through the combination and juxtaposition of the surrounding spaces and things can we articulate in a way that we have the opportunity to reinterpret ourselves. This way the garment becomes so called versatile "wearable architecture", a moving space which is protecting us while creating for the wearer a new self-image

High quality synthetic fabrics are combined with 100% natural, mat surfaces with lustrous ones in order to obtain real architectural textures.

The color palette consists of sophisticated shades of grey in a subtle combination with accent colors.
